Supporting the majority investment in Project Hydra

17 September 2026

We were delighted to advise the shareholders of Project Hydra on securing a majority investment from a long-term investment partner.

Project Hydra is a family-owned business providing power solutions to critical end markets across both the private and public sectors in the UK and Europe. Having experienced significant growth in recent years, driven in part by its involvement in the expanding data centre market, the business had identified a number of compelling opportunities for further expansion, including growth into additional international markets.

The shareholders engaged Affinia to explore the options available to support the company’s continued growth. Affinia’s Deal Advisory team ran an international process, evaluating a range of alternatives, including a full exit, before helping the shareholders identify the investment partner best aligned with their long-term ambitions.

“This was a great deal to be involved in and demonstrates the value of evaluating all strategic options before making a decision. Given Project Hydra’s unique market position and strong growth prospects, there was significant interest from a range of parties, including potential acquirers and investors.

Through a highly competitive international process, we helped the shareholders assess the options available and ultimately secure a partner that can support the next phase of growth whilst maximising long-term value. We look forward to watching the business continue to develop over the coming years.”

Adam Croft, Head of Deal Advisory

How we supported

Affinia provided lead advisory support throughout the transaction, including:

Advising the shareholders on valuation expectations and the strategic options available to them.
Preparing high-quality marketing materials to present the business to prospective investors.
Running a competitive international investment process to generate interest from a broad range of potential parties.
Managing negotiations with interested investors and supporting the evaluation of competing offers.
Project managing the transaction through the due diligence process and coordinating with legal advisers, the internal finance team and other stakeholders.
Providing integrated tax and deal advisory expertise to support informed decision-making throughout the transaction.
Supporting the shareholders in selecting the investment partner best positioned to help deliver future growth.

The outcome

The transaction completed successfully, securing a majority investment from a long-term investment partner and positioning Project Hydra for its next stage of growth.

The investment provides the business with the support and resources required to pursue its strategic objectives, including further expansion across the UK and Europe, whilst enabling the shareholders to continue benefiting from the value creation opportunities ahead.

Led by Adam Croft, Malcolm Coomber, Aneka Abeywickrema and Paul Spriggs, Affinia’s Deal Advisory team guided the shareholders through every stage of the transaction, from initial strategic discussions through to completion. The successful outcome highlights the value of combining commercial, tax and transaction expertise to help business owners achieve their strategic objectives.

“We instructed Affinia to act on our behalf in regard to the sale of our international Group. Whilst we had never previously used Affinia’s services, we found Adam, Malcolm, Aneka and Paul’s guidance and expertise throughout every stage pivotal in getting the deal completed. We were impressed by the quality of the marketing materials produced and the strong level of interest generated from prospective investors. Affinia remained hands-on throughout the process, helping to manage a complex diligence exercise and providing practical solutions whenever challenges arose. We would highly recommend the Affinia Deal Advisory team to anyone considering a sale or investment transaction.”
