Supporting the shareholders of Purified Air on their sale to PX3 Partners
22 September 2026
We were delighted to advise the shareholders of Purified Air on the sale of the business to PX3 Partners.
Founded in 1984 and headquartered in Romford, Essex, Purified Air is a leading designer, manufacturer and service provider of clean-tech emission-control systems for commercial kitchens and industrial applications. The business serves customers across the UK, Europe, the Middle East and the US, helping organisations improve air quality, manage odour control and meet increasingly important environmental and regulatory requirements.
Over four decades, founder David Collins built Purified Air into a market-leading business with a strong reputation for engineering excellence, innovation and customer service. As part of a planned leadership transition, the shareholders sought a partner that could support the next phase of growth while preserving the culture and values that have underpinned the Company’s success.
Following a competitive process, PX3 Partners was selected as the preferred partner, providing the business with the capital, expertise and international network required to support its long-term ambitions. As part of the transaction, David Collins retained a shareholding in the business and continues to support the Company as a non-executive board member.
“Affinia’s Deal Advisory team are really pleased to have worked with the shareholders and management on this landmark transaction in Essex. Purified Air have built an excellent reputation in the clean-tech emission-control systems space, working for clients located across the UK, Europe and the Middle East.
This investment will allow them to accelerate their growth plans, including launching a presence in the US, and we look forward to watching the management team and PX3 establish Purified Air as the international leader in commercial kitchen air quality.” – Adam Croft, Head of Deal Advisory at Affinia

Preparing marketing materials and positioning the business to prospective investors and acquirers.
Running a competitive process to identify the most suitable partner for the business.
Managing discussions, negotiations and evaluations with interested parties.
Supporting the shareholders throughout due diligence and the transaction process.
Coordinating with legal advisers, management and other stakeholders to drive the transaction through to completion.
Providing integrated corporate finance and tax advice throughout the process.
The outcome
The transaction completed successfully, with PX3 Partners acquiring Purified Air from its founder and shareholders. The transaction provides the business with the backing and resources to support its next phase of growth, including international expansion and continued investment in its products, people and technical expertise.
Under the leadership of newly appointed Chief Executive Officer Andrew James and Chief Operating Officer Gareth Smith, Purified Air is well positioned to continue building on its market-leading position while pursuing ambitious plans for international expansion, including growth in the US market.
Led by Adam Croft and the wider Deal Advisory team, Affinia worked closely with the shareholders and management throughout the process, helping them secure a partner capable of supporting the Company’s long-term strategic ambitions. The transaction represents a significant milestone for both Purified Air and the wider Essex business community, demonstrating continued investor appetite for high-quality founder-led businesses operating in sectors benefiting from strong environmental, regulatory and international growth drivers.
“We found Adam, Aneka, Abbas and Irfan’s support and assistance throughout the process invaluable. They helped explain complex models, talking us through various structures and scenarios, and ensured all stakeholders felt comfortable with the proposed structures and mechanics of the deal.
They supported the whole management team during an extensive diligence phase, attending countless sessions and then managing numerous workstreams.
Adam was always on hand to talk through any points I had, even during evenings and on weekends, coming up with creative solutions and alternative options when needed. As a management team we would highly recommend their services to anyone considering a private equity investment.”
