Our Cambridge colleagues raise £2.4K at sleepout for Cambridge

1 March 2026

Community commitment is at the heart of what we do, and that commitment was proudly demonstrated on Friday 20th February, when our team took part in the CUFC Foundation Sleepout for Cambridge, raising an impressive £2,465 for people experiencing homelessness in the city.

Led by team captain Zoe Hamlin, the team joined organisations from across the region for a night spent sleeping outside at the Cledara Abbey Stadium Main Stand. By giving up their beds, participants raised vital funds and awareness for those who face homelessness every day.

The Sleepout supports two essential local charities: Cambridge United Foundation and Wintercomfort for the Homeless. Together, they provide a wide range of support, including welfare services, hot meals, access to training, employment opportunities and longer‑term pathways to stability.

A standout fundraising effort

The 2026 Sleepout has so far raised an incredible £44,000 with donations still open. Our Cambridge team contributed more than 246% of their original fundraising target, making them the second-highest fundraising team overall and totalling £2,465.

Several members of the team also achieved outstanding individual fundraising totals, highlighting the generosity and collective impact behind the event.

A long‑standing commitment to Cambridge

Ben Heneker, Director in our Cambridge office, has taken part in the CUFC Sleepout every year for the past five years. Reflecting on this year’s event, he shared:

Taking part in the Sleepout is a powerful reminder of how fortunate many of us are. While this is just one night for participants, it reflects a reality faced by others every day. That perspective is exactly why this event matters and why we remain committed to supporting it.

As a lifelong Cambridge United fan, it’s incredibly rewarding to combine a personal passion with our work and a cause that makes a real difference locally. Over the years, our relationship with the club has grown, including our recent sponsorship of the Women’s team, and the Sleepout is a meaningful way to turn that partnership into action.

Ben also highlighted the importance of initiatives such as the United for Cambridge campaign, which brings businesses together to help address local challenges, create opportunities and support the long‑term ambitions of the Foundation.

Making a meaningful difference

Although conditions were slightly kinder than in previous years, spending the night on concrete in a noisy, exposed space was still a challenging experience for participants. It served as a humbling reminder of why fundraising events like this are so vital: not just for financial support, but for raising awareness and empathy.

We are incredibly proud of everyone who took part, donated or supported the team. Together, these efforts help fund practical, life‑changing services for people who need them most.
