Celebrating National Careers Week 2025

4 March 2025

It’s not just a job. It’s a career.

More than just an Accountancy firm, Affinia offers support for our colleagues across a range of financial services as well as in IT, Marketing, Internal Finance and more.

We’re passionate about people, providing our talented employees with opportunities to grow as a professional in our industry. Rated 3rd in the UK’s Top Apprenticeship Employers, we understand the importance of creating the right foundation from the very beginning of their career through to senior leadership and advanced level training.

We want people to enjoy growing their career with us, and to feel supported in their professional and personal lives, whether that is in terms of flexible working, study support or growth and progression within their roles.

As part of National Careers Week (which runs from 3rd to 8th March) we will be sharing stories from our employees and how we help them find that work-life balance. To find out more about the national awareness one-week celebration of careers guidance use the link to visit the National Career Week website.

Maddy Pickup | Flexible Working

Maddy Pickup joined Affinia in 2024, joining a growing Marketing Team on a flexible working basis, to ensure she can continue to progress in her career and be there for her 2 year old daughter.

“I felt supported from the very beginning of joining Affinia. As part of the interview process, I discussed my flexible working requirements and the hours I had existing childcare support for with my hiring Manager. She was fully accepting of that and has been consistently since I started. Trying to be both a Mother and have a career in a role I love isn’t something I thought was achievable, but turns out it is! When I was made redundant from my last role, I found it incredibly hard to find another job in the creative industry that could allow the hours I needed to work around my home life.

In previous roles I have encountered barriers such as working less hours resulting in less pay, or my employer not being able to offer me a role senior enough because I couldn’t commit to 40 hours a week. This is not my experience at Affinia – I know I’m trusted to deliver my role but have flexibility to do so. Affinia has done a wonderful job of making me feel like I can achieve my goals and being a working Mum has zero impact on that.”

Affinia believes that flexible working allows for greater employee engagement, commitment, and increases our productivity levels.
